You don’t watch audiobooks like a movie. You listen while you drive, work, or drift off to sleep. But when you do look at your phone, to pause a track or check the time, what do you see? A static, unchangeable cover? Audiobooks Illuminated changes that. We fill the margins of your digital library. Whether it’s a map of the fantasy world you’re traversing, fan art of the character currently speaking, or a diagram of the history you’re learning, your screen updates to match the story. It is an immersive experience for the moments you look, and a powerful audio player for the moments you don’t.
How It Works
It’s your library, visualized. 1. The Book: Bring your own DRM-free audiobook files (MP3, M4B). 2. The Illumination Pack: Download a community-created Pack (a simple ZIP file containing artwork and timeline data) or create your own using our Desktop tools. 3. The Experience: Drop the Pack into the folder with your book. The Player automatically syncs the art to the audio, panning and zooming through the imagery as the narrator reads.

The Mobile Player (Android) Built for the listening experience. Visual Playback: Real-time "Ken Burns" style animation moves through the artwork based on focal points. Shake-to-Reset: Sleep timer fade out too soon? Just shake your phone to reset it without opening your eyes. Smart History: Never lose your place. The Desktop Hub (Windows) Built for curation and creation. The Editor: Create your own Illumination Packs. Bulk import images and sync them to timestamps. The One-Switch Server: Flip a toggle to sync your library and progress to your phone over your local Wi-Fi. No cloud required.

Audiobooks Illuminated was built to scratch an itch, not to sell your data. Your Files: We respect your folder structure. We don't force you to reorganize your library. Your Privacy: No analytics. No ad networks. No account required (in the apps). Your Wallet: The app is free. The "Premium" features are standard. This is a solo project born from a love of 40-hour epics and a desire to see the worlds I was hearing.
